The alto flute is a low pitched instrument with the sounding range from G below middle C to the G three octaves higher. It is generally thicker and longer than a standard C flute, which is directly related to lower sounds it can produce. Alto flute requires much more breath control to play properly from its player. Its curved design makes it easier for smaller players. It gives a much lighter feel to the instrument as a whole. A straight headjoint will not only provide an additional challenge for players,; however, it offers better and more refined intonation.
