Description:
The Cello also known as the violoncello is the tenor and bass instrument of the violin family. It is one of the most important bowed instrument for solo works. The bow is about 2 cm shorter and a quarter as heavy as the violin bow.
Technique:
Because of its large size, the cello is played in the upright position. The cellist is supposed to place the instrument between his/her legs. One usually sits down on a chair playing the cello, as it rests its tail on the floor. The thumb position made it possible to reach the high positions, especially on the top string. In the 20th Century, cellists began to become more specialized into the instrument and its beauty. The tail pin is made of steel, and the total length of the cello is about 125 cm.
