Description:

Fiddle was established in Ireland and is part of the string family. The bowed instruments appear in numerous European carvings dating back from 900 A.D.The term "fiddle" was originally the term for a twelfth century instrument, constructed of flat boards for the top, back, and sides. Almost all European countries claim invention of the violin, but none can challenge Italy. Oldest surviving violin dates back to 1564 made by Andrea Amati. Fiddle is a direct cousin of the violin. The tin fiddle was adopted by sailors and Irish immigrants, and is shaped just like a violin. It has carved holes to elicit the intricate details of the sound.

Famous Fiddlers

Some famous fiddlers include Andrew Baxter, Paddy Canny, Frankie Gavin, Liz Carroll, Sharon Corr, Chris Daring, and also D Sharp. Today, fiddlers come in all sizes, colors, and shapes. From American to Irish, fiddlers exude a precious aura of musical beauty that mustn't ever be lost.
